As part of my Creative Renewal journey, I made a powerful stop on the way to the East Coast… at the hauntingly beautiful Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum in Baltimore. This visit marked a deeply meaningful moment in my cross-country road trip, reconnecting me with my passion for storytelling, mystery, and emotion through the lens. Edgar Allan Poe was definitely one of my first loves when I began to read, so this stoip maybe meant more to me than any other so far on my adventure.
Wandering through the narrow brick home where Poe once lived, I felt the presence of his legacy in every nook and cranny. The textures, tones, and atmosphere of the space breathed new life into my desire to write. It was less about capturing a historic landmark in grandiose photos and more about channeling the mood, the mythos, and the eerie vibe Poe left behind as a muse to tap into deeper emotional writing.
This experience is made possible through the prestigious 2024-2026 Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship, an Indy Arts Council program supported by Lilly Endowment, Inc. This incredible opportunity allows me to push the limits of my creative work while reigniting the artistic passion that drives me.
