As part of my Creative Renewal journey, I made a meaningful stop in Philadelphia, where history practically hums through the streets. I wandered around the iconic Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, soaking in the atmosphere from the outside. I walked the path between them slowly, letting the gravity of it all settle in.
The Liberty Bell itself was encased behind glass… one of the nation’s biggest symbols of freedom sitting caged and just out of reach. It felt strangely fitting. Still, I managed to snag a few photos, even through the barrier. There’s something powerful in that… liberty, distant but still visible. This moment, like so many on this trip, reminded me how essential it is to simply look and to witness what stands, what’s sealed away, and what still speaks volumes even when locked away.
This experience was made possible through the prestigious 2024–2025 Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship, an Indy Arts Council program supported by Lilly Endowment, Inc. This incredible opportunity allowed me to push the limits of my creative work while reigniting the artistic passion that drives me.
