About Photographic Melodie

Photographic Melodie is an independent arts and music publication created by artist, poet, photographer, and author Melodie Yvonne. What began as a music photography project has grown into a creative platform celebrating musicians, writers, visual artists, performers, and the beautifully unconventional.

From concert photography and artist interviews to poetry, music videos, event coverage, book publishing, and original artwork, Photographic Melodie exists to spotlight authentic voices and tell stories with heart. Fueled by a DIY spirit and just the right amount of energy, Melodie believes art should be honest, fearless, and a little unpredictable with with her own lil dab of Gonzoism on the side.

About Melodie Yvonne

Melodie Yvonne is an Indiana-based poet, photographer, visual artist, author, and creative entrepreneur. She picked up her first camera at five years old and has been chasing meaningful moments ever since. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Visual Communications with a concentration in Photography and Graphic Design from Ivy Tech Community College in 2002.

Although she is widely recognized for her live music photography, Melodie’s creative work extends far beyond the stage. She has published multiple books of poetry and photography, created documentary and music videos, designed websites for artists and small businesses, produced interviews with musicians and creatives, and continues to exhibit her visual artwork throughout Indiana.

Inspired by the music she grew up listening to, Melodie has always wanted to create visual art that makes people feel the way music does. Whether through photography, poetry, film, or design, her work explores resilience, emotion, memory, and the beautifully imperfect. Her goal has never been simply to document life, but to create work that makes people stop, feel something, and SEE the music.

Melodie has freelanced around the country ranging from working for bands to being the official photographer on many Poker Runs. She self-published her first print work, a collection of images & poetry, in 2011, and has since published many more collections. Currently, Melodie acts as owner & lead photographer at Photographic Melodie, has ongoing visual art exhibitions at multiple venues, and frequently is found around Indy performing poetry at every opportunity.

Melodie says, “I started out with a Tweety bird camera and a dream and I never let go. I will always love photography and the vessel it has given me to share the images of my heart and mind with the world. I have found that every single person on this earth visualizes the world in very different ways. Some people are optimists, some are pessimists. Some people are daydreamers, and others keep their feet firmly planted on the ground. Photography allows me to show some of these different visualizations. It allows the rationalist to see that it’s okay to dream, it can show the monsters hidden in the dark, and it can show even the saddest of people that there is still joy in the world.”
