INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 9, 2024) – Jess Jones’s recent new album, The Flatlander, was released to the public on April 19, 2024, and has quickly gained momentum as another triumph for the artist. The album starts off with mellow notes that are calming yet strong in “Five Leaves Later”.  The provocative opener invokes powerful relatable feelings that pull you into the rest of the album. “Add Free” grabs you next with its slightly darker overtones that illustrate the deeper nuances in the lyrics. “Pinwheel Heart” lifts your ears back up like a breath of fresh air on a bright spring day. “Ease” comes on next with a gentle ease that instantly makes you fall in love with Jess’s easy laid-back style that carries you onward like a lazy river raft carrying you home. Jones floats into “For No One” with an upbeat tone full of insightful vocals that slides you right on into “Soot and Dust”.

“Soot and Dust” begins with a mesmerizing harmonica filled intro that wraps around your ears like a warm blanket on a chilly winter night and cuddles you until your heart heals again. “Kelly Green” is an introspective beauty that channels the heart and soul of this true Americana musician with every note. The next aural delight is a trip down the “Consciousness Streams”, where, if you close your eyes, Jess takes you on a vibrant trip through a musical landscape in the back of your own mind. “The Federal Mail” is a gorgeously toned alt-country ballad that truly showcases Jones skill as a true folk musician.

“Two Dollar Pistol” dances through the air waves like love at first sight floats through a barroom brawl in an old west saloon. Then “Wet Sand” saunters in like a dance that doesn’t need a partner, but wouldn’t mind if you stepped in. “Misstep of Heart” is certainly not a misstep in creation as this exquisitely made track makes you long for more from this seasoned musician. “Inward” takes the new album home with a stunning exit to an extraordinary new collection of melodies.

Relatable lines like “Faded wallet sitting on empty” in “Soot and Dust” pull you in and truly make you feel like Jess is right there holding your hand through life. It’s easy to see the true musicianship in his work, and identifiable themes in each track make it evident that life’s hardships only prove to inspire greatness in this remarkable man. The Flatlander is a true musical journey, and it’s a glorious example of the outstanding discography from the phenomenal Jess Jones.
