Caution before continuing to gallery!!!
Information For Foreigners is a play that tackles the subject of state terrorism. Griselda Gambaro wrote the play during a period of intense political unrest in Argentina. Physical violence, sexual violence, and abduction are depicted in the play, and therefore are contained in the following images. We do not recommend the piece or the images below for those under 18 years of age!!!

WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA (Dress Rehearsal – April 22, 2019) – Purdue’s Graduate Student Workshop: Information for Foreigners by Griselda Gambaro and directed by Guest Director Anne Kelly (Switchboard Operations) with Movement Direction by Holly Jaycox is unlike any production that has ever blessed the Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts before. This newest part of the Shrader Workshop Series is a nontraditional site-specific and immersive play that keeps every visitor completely riveted from the beginning until the very last second.

The show is a tour guided experience that explores the subject of state terrorism during a period of intense political unrest in Argentina. Information for Foreigners takes place all across the 2nd floor of Pao Hall, and the heart wrenching saga begins at the door. The workshop runs April 24-26, 2019 at 8:00 PM. There is no charge, so space is very limited for this once in a lifetime event. Reservations are currently full, but a wait list is available.

The following excerpt is courtesy of Purdue Theatre’s official website:

“A guided tour through the places of repression and indignity.”

We invite you to experience the groundbreaking site-specific work of Argentina’s most celebrated playwright.

This is a graduate student workshop led by Nathan McWilliams (First-year MFA candidate in Sound Design), in collaboration with his professional colleague, Anne Kelly (Switchboard Operations), who will serve as guest director of the workshop. Purdue faculty advisers include Holly Jaycox (Continuing Lecturer, Dance) and Rick Thomas, Professor of Sound Design, Theatre).

Griselda Gambaro completed Information For Foreigners in 1973, foreshadowing the events of the Dirty War in Argentina, where 30,000 Argentines were disappeared by the military dictatorship. The piece is site-specific; Gambaro wrote it to be staged and performed in a vacant house, with “tour guide” characters leading the audience in multiple groups to witness scenes in the various rooms. This groundbreaking format initially drew us to explore the piece — but the content and subject matter now seems even more timely and vital to share with an American audience.

Melodie Yvonne

Melodie Yvonne, lead photographer and owner of Photographic Melodie, grew up in the small southern Indiana town of North Vernon. She picked up her first camera at the age of 5, and was immediately hooked. By the age of 15 she began to turn every trip, even just to the local park, into a fantasy scene of her own imagination, and started mentoring with many local professionals. Melodie received an Associates of Applied Science in Visual Technologies majoring in Photography from Ivy Tech in 2002 after studying under acclaimed professors and many other masters in the field.

Melodie’s main focus has always been music photography. Growing up listening to many amazing musicians inspired her dream to create visual images that made people feel the way they do when listening to music. Her goal was to help people SEE the music.

Melodie has done numerous jobs around the country ranging from working for bands to being the official photographer on many southern Indiana Poker Runs. Her specialties are in nature, music, and candid event photography. She published her first print work, a collection of images & poetry, in 2011, and has since published many more print works. Melodie currently acts as owner & lead photographer at Photographic Melodie, House Photographer for Purdue Theatre, and Tour Photographer for multiple Billboard Charts topping bands as well as freelance work with many other media outlets, venues, and musicians.
