INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 22, 2018) – The American Idol Live Tour 2018 brought their sensational show to Old National Centre recently, and with it they brought a wholesome invigoration that is very much appreciated in the Hoosier State. Fans came from far and wide to enjoy the artists live, and were obviously gleeful to have the honor of finally watching them perform in person. The Murat Theatre was almost filled to the brim with die-hard devotees all wearing smiles a mile wide before even a hint of the first harmonies hit the stage, and their grins were a continual gleam throughout the show.
Forever In Your Mind came out first, and heated up the stage with a vivacious vigor. The sensational trio’s set was full of fantastic songs such as their amazing track “Rabbit Hole“, and their harmonies showed skills well beyond their years. The gentleman also all showed a phenomenal talent for amazing footwork on top of their stellar vocals which tickled the crowd so much so that all of the tweens in attendance were sporting matching gleefully pinked cheeks.
A brief intermission before the main event built up an extraordinary amount of anticipation in the audience. A thunderous applause erupted as the house went dark in expectation of the magical musicians that were about to materialize. Slowly the stage lights came on, but they were scarcely needed as one by one members of American Idol’s top seven along with Season 8 winner, Kris Allen, stepped onto the stage like bright shining little stars coming together to make up a constellation that lit up the entire house like a starfield.
Catie Turner took her turn at bat as well, of course. She shined with her classic style during a searing selection of Camila Cabello’s “Havana“, and then later followed it up with powerful and hauntingly beautiful vocals on Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” that had the audience completely enchanted. Kris Allen, used his opportunity to delight the crowd by treating them to his new single and a spectacular mash-up of The Frames’ “Falling Slowly”, Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”, & Kanye West’s “Heartless” as well as a few older hits. He did this all while helping out as host and occasional backup musician and vocalists showing that chivalry still somehow exists and is thriving at least on the American Idol Live Tour if not anywhere else in the world. Allen gave his all to the audience during an exhilarating performance of fan favorite “Live Like We’re Dying“, and definitely walked off that stage with a new multitude of devotees made by his musical magnanimity.
There were many harmonies throughout the set, but the collaboration genius and cuteness abounded in the couples duets by the show’s sets of accidental sweethearts. Cade and Gabby came together fiercely and furiously on multiple numbers, but their fusion and euphony on INXS‘ “Never Tear Us Apart” was certainly a force to be reckoned with. Maddie and Caleb sang so sweetly together in selections like Carole King’s “You’ve Got A Friend” that it was like every holiday and birthday ever in existence all joined together at once and gifted the crowd with puppies in pajamas that had pockets full of money that would last for infinity and beyond. Both couples should be ashamed that they are so delectable that they ruined all duets for everyone else for the rest of time… unless, of course, somehow Shannon Hoon and Layne Staley resurrect and sing, well, anything together, but other than that no one should bother. Thanks guys.
Anyway, It goes without saying that the talents amongst the show’s musicians run deep and aplenty. Each member of Idol’s 2018 top seven as well as the phenomenal Kris Allen bring their own extra special talents to the table. Even more impressive, however, are their sweet demeanors and genuine hearts of gold that beat with the passion of their dreams. The artists’ bright souls are so beautiful that they radiate outwardly planting seeds of love every time they speak, and shining warmth that grows that love with each mellifluous note.
The American Idol Live Tour 2018 is a lighthearted lightening rod attracting good vibes as it trots around the globe, and it was no different on their stop in the heartland of Hoosier country. Everyone in attendance walked out of that theater a slightly better person just from breathing the same air as such exquisite individuals. The world can only hope as time goes on that these artists grow into the beautiful melodic angels they are meant to be, and keep spreading the love they brought to Indiana all around the Earth forever.

Melodie Yvonne, lead photographer and owner of Photographic Melodie, grew up in the small southern Indiana town of North Vernon. She picked up her first camera at the age of 5, and was immediately hooked. By the age of 15 she began to turn every trip, even just to the local park, into a fantasy scene of her own imagination, and started mentoring with many local professionals. Melodie received an Associates of Applied Science in Visual Technologies majoring in Photography from Ivy Tech in 2002 after studying under acclaimed professors and many other masters in the field.
Melodie’s main focus has always been music photography. Growing up listening to many amazing musicians inspired her dream to create visual images that made people feel the way they do when listening to music. Her goal was to help people SEE the music.
Melodie has done numerous jobs around the country ranging from working for bands to being the official photographer on many southern Indiana Poker Runs. Her specialties are in nature, music, and candid event photography. She published her first print work, a collection of images & poetry, in 2011, and has since published many more print works. Melodie currently acts as owner & lead photographer at Photographic Melodie, House Photographer for Purdue Theatre, and Tour Photographer for multiple Billboard Charts topping bands as well as freelance work with many other media outlets, venues, and musicians.
