Frequently Asked Questions

Is it ok if I share one of your images on my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. or use it as my profile pic?

Yeah, that’s cool! I very much appreciate that you like my work, and love that you like it enough to share. Just make sure to follow my Terms & Conditions of Usage (basically don’t alter or sell) and throw out a credit line if you think of… “photo by Photographic Melodie” on Facebook or “photo by @melodieyvonne” on Twitter, Instagram, and everywhere else.

Can I hire Melodie to shoot my wedding?

I’m sorry, probably not. I rarely do weddings because it takes a special set of skills. I specialize in music/concert and art photography. I occasionally do other events and plays, but I’m not the best at weddings and I’d hate to ruin your special day! It’d be like hiring a fry cook to bake your wedding cake. Sure, it’s kinda the same professions, but you can imagine the different results. They can both fix wonderful food, but it’s just different types of food that require a different skill set.

I went to a show or party, and Melodie took a photo of me at the event I attended. Where can I find that photo?

First, try searching for the event that you attended in the search bar under the menu, or visit the Concert & Events gallery, and choose the year of the event you attended. Your photo should be in its event photo gallery. Simply select info & view the photo at FULL SIZE. Then right click & save image. If you don’t see your photo in the gallery of its events photo gallery then, unfortunately, it probably did not come out due to poor lighting or poor focusing on my part. Please forgive me, and come join me at another event, so I can have another shot!

Can I crop/change your image so it fits my profile pic/cover photo needs?

I’d prefer you didn’t.

A photograph is to me what a painting is to a painter. Would you buy a painting from a beloved artist to display in your house, and then cut an inch off the side so it will fit better on a wall, or would you just hang it on a different wall? My work is kinda the same principle.

However, I totally get that nowadays social media makes you crop the image sometimes, so may the force be with you.

Can I buy a print/high res image of a photo from Melodie’s galleries?

Maybe… Many art prints from the artistic photo galleries are definitely available and for sale in the Photographic Melodie Online Shop as well as many others pieces in my gallery. Just contact me at melodie@photographicmelodie.com for any specific inquiries or to schedule a visit to the gallery in person.

Most concert prints are not for sale, however. I’m very sorry. It is illegal to sell photos of artists without their written permission.

Can I buy a print/hi res image Melodie shot of an artist that I love?

No, I’m very sorry. It is illegal to sell photos of artists without their written permission.

What type of camera, lens, and settings do you use to capture your images?

I’m sorry, I switch around so much that I just can’t remember what I did with a particular photo sometimes. I do leave the metadata attached to my images, however, so if you are wondering about a certain image just go to the gallery, open the image, scroll down just a nudge, and the info you seek should be there.

I don’t see my question in the FAQs. What do I do?

Please feel free to contact Melodie at melodie@photographicmelodie.com with your question, and she will get back to you as soon as possible.

And PRETTY PLEASE above all else remember…

Melodie Yvonne

Melodie Yvonne, lead photographer and owner of Photographic Melodie, grew up in the small southern Indiana town of North Vernon. She picked up her first camera at the age of 5, and was immediately hooked. By the age of 15 she began to turn every trip, even just to the local park, into a fantasy scene of her own imagination, and started mentoring with many local professionals. Melodie received an Associates of Applied Science in Visual Technologies majoring in Photography from Ivy Tech in 2002 after studying under acclaimed professors and many other masters in the field.

Melodie’s main focus has always been music photography. Growing up listening to many amazing musicians inspired her dream to create visual images that made people feel the way they do when listening to music. Her goal was to help people SEE the music.

Melodie has done numerous jobs around the country ranging from working for bands to being the official photographer on many southern Indiana Poker Runs. Her specialties are in nature, music, and candid event photography. She published her first print work, a collection of images & poetry, in 2011, and has since published many more print works. Melodie currently acts as owner & lead photographer at Photographic Melodie, House Photographer for Purdue Theatre, and Tour Photographer for multiple Billboard Charts topping bands as well as freelance work with many other media outlets, venues, and musicians.
