Sonny Boy Thorn Still Simmering

Sonny Boy Thorn Still Simmering

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 9, 2018) – As I sit back and gaze at my CD collection on this gloomy day I have this ever-present nagging feeling about a void that exists. I’ve tried to fill it with some of the latest one hit wonders like everyone else, and even drank in the last season of both The Voice and American Idol looking for a fix, but it was short-lived. I became excited along with the rest of the world when Jack White put out a new album not too long ago. I thought maybe this was exactly what the doctor ordered, but even Jack’s ingenuity couldn’t cure my musical blues this time. It was close, but no cigar, and I know I’m not alone. I’ve come to believe that the problem is possibly because a cigar is not what the world needs right now to fill the vast empty core of the earth’s chest cavity. What the world needs now is a big ole kind blunt, and there’s certainly no kind better than the truly spectacular melodies of Sonny Boy Thorn. So… Hey guys?!?! Where did you go???

The powerful driving forces behind the amazing band that is Sonny Boy Thorn, Christopher Thorn and David Dennis, performed a number of shows and released a limited edition 4 song sampler, but have scarcely been heard from recently. This 4 song release has been holding us over, but I fear our tolerance is rising, and we NEED a bigger dose! Naturally, my inquisitive female nature can only conclude that these men must be teasing us to get us riled up for some truly grandiose magic, but I’m not sure how much longer the world can wait.

I decided to reach out to Christopher to see if there might be any new developments. Had they been working on more? What did I need to do to make my Sonny Boy Thorn full album dream a reality? Maybe start some online petitions? Offer my services as backup dancer and triangle player? Maybe get the boys some angels like Charlie or Corey Feldman? Or at the very least maybe I could get CT to bless me with some kind of update to satiate my desires, but… then I chickened out. Sometimes it’s the dream that keeps us going, you know? Plus, I mean who the hell do you guys think I am, Dan Rather or something? But I digress…

Life and time can definitely take it’s toll on us all, and the brilliant men of Sonny Boy Thorn are no exception. Wherever these genius gentlemen are and whatever they are doing it is surely God’s work, so I will wait patiently, and loyally with bated breath. I’ll drop my signed sampler into the stereo once again, close my eyes, and know that all of the other Sonny Boy Thorn fans are somewhere out there right now tripping the light fantastic with me. I’ll let these 4 songs carry me away one more time, and I’ll sleep to dream until, hopefully, one day soon that timeless otherworldly listening party in my head turns into a full length cut and a real life new album celebration for the world.

Melodie Yvonne

Melodie Yvonne, lead photographer and owner of Photographic Melodie, grew up in the small southern Indiana town of North Vernon. She picked up her first camera at the age of 5, and was immediately hooked. By the age of 15 she began to turn every trip, even just to the local park, into a fantasy scene of her own imagination, and started mentoring with many local professionals. Melodie received an Associates of Applied Science in Visual Technologies majoring in Photography from Ivy Tech in 2002 after studying under acclaimed professors and many other masters in the field.

Melodie’s main focus has always been music photography. Growing up listening to many amazing musicians inspired her dream to create visual images that made people feel the way they do when listening to music. Her goal was to help people SEE the music.

Melodie has done numerous jobs around the country ranging from working for bands to being the official photographer on many southern Indiana Poker Runs. Her specialties are in nature, music, and candid event photography. She published her first print work, a collection of images & poetry, in 2011, and has since published many more print works. Melodie currently acts as owner & lead photographer at Photographic Melodie, House Photographer for Purdue Theatre, and Tour Photographer for multiple Billboard Charts topping bands as well as freelance work with many other media outlets, venues, and musicians.
