WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA (December 13, 2025) – Pudue Fusion Studio hosted the phenomenal Stage Machine Design Competition Saturday, December 13, 2025, on stage at the Mallett Theatre in the Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts. The competition is a fascinating behind-the-scenes adventure into theatre production for teams from around the country. This year, the competition mixed engineering with elegance as teams designed and created Flower Petal Shower Machines that rained beauty down with every entrant’s turn.
Purdue continues to set high standards for education, and events like the SMDC are a perfect example of the excellence the theatre department aspires to. The SMDC not only encourages out-of-the-box thinking and innovation, but it builds teamwork among the participating schools. There is no last place in this astounding competition, even participants stranded out in the snow were included, and their proposal admired by everyone for its ingenuity. Purdue Theatre and Pudue Fusion Studio are not just all-inclusive, they’re all one big family once you enter those doors, and this contest showcases why any student would be proud to call Purdue their home.
