INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (May 28, 2024) – Cast & crew gathered during a dress rehearsal for locally written and produced theatre production “Just Beginning” at the Franklin College Theatre May 28, 2024 in Franklin, Indiana. The epic play tells the true stories of 17 Parisian women who were falsely accused of crimes, trafficked, and sent on a slave ship to “populate” America in the 1720s. Writer & Director Laura Krell says her work is all about “Making Women’s History with Women’s History”. The innovative tale includes a queer love story, talks transparently about women’s issues, portrays parallels in the treatment of women throughout the ages, includes groundbreaking aerial artist performances, and features sculpture and scenic artwork by local female artists Gieselle Trujillo & Denise Mejean. The musical will run at 7:30 p.m. June 7, 8, 14 and 15, and 2 p.m. June 8 and 15, at Theatre Margot inside the Johnson Center for the Fine Arts on Franklin College’s campus.
