LAFAYETTE, IN (September 5, 2019) – Vernie Long lived a beautiful yet modest life in Lafayette, Indiana. She cared very much for every single soul that crossed her path, and she did so with all of her heart. Her best advice to her beloved grandson, the legendary Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon, as well as to the rest of the world was to “keep it simple, stupid”, and her life shined from following her own wise advice. She kept it simple having no need for the flashy lifestyle that popularity can sometimes bring, and her doors were always open to one and all.
Vernie loved with reckless abandon, and lived her life to the fullest leaving behind a legacy that will be celebrated for many moons to come. Her energy can still be felt vibrating where she lived for so long, and that makes it still to this day one of the most welcoming homes in Hoosierland. Nel Hoon, Vernie’s daughter and Shannon’s mom, recently moved into the ethereal abode carrying a magnanimous spirit not unlike Vernie’s. Nel is also intent on following in her mother’s simple and good hearted lifestyle. If home is where the heart is then this home has heart written all over it in capital letters, and this house as well as its inhabitants will surely keep on shining for countless generations ahead.
