INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 15, 2019) – Poetry at the Yard celebrated National Poetry Month at Coal Yard Coffee with a special feature performance from Chicago legend and poet, Billy Tuggle on Monday, April 15, 2019. An amazing all ages open mic was held along with the performance that brought stunning work to the forefront from many talented literary artists. The following excerpt about the legendary Billy Tuggle is courtesy of the Poetry at the Yard Facebook Event Page:
“Billy is a writer, a poet, activist, poetry organizer, and host as well as a poetry slam champion on the local, regional, and national stage. His notable winnings have earned him a place in the Haiku Hall of Fame alongside notable poets such as Basho. Billy is not your typical performance poet, though. His prowess on the mic commands the atmosphere to bend at his whim. His words demand an audience, and they get it. Billy has been active in performance since his teen years as the lead vocalist of rock and funk bands. These endeavors helped hone his skill on the stage. As an ambassador of poetry slam, Billy has helped bring many a poet along with their performance and writing abilities.”
